Driving Efficiency: Roads Department Reviews Progress

The Secretary, Administration, Mr. Evans Mutari, yesterday held a strategic meeting with Heads of the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Mechanical and Transport Division (MTD), and the Materials, Testing and Research Directorate (MTRD) at the State Department for Roads to review key departmental developments and achievements in the current FY 2025/2026.

The meeting focused on ensuring smooth operations, effective delivery of core programmes, and addressing operational challenges that may affect service delivery. Mr. Mutari, who chaired the meeting on behalf of the Principal Secretary for Roads, reaffirmed the PS’s commitment to ensuring the State Department runs efficiently and encouraged Directorate Heads to openly raise challenges within their respective units that require attention.

During the session, Heads of Department reported progress on various programmes and projects aimed at accelerating ongoing road construction across the country, while upholding standards and ensuring value for public resources.

Mr. Mutari also called for preparedness across the roads sub-sector ahead of the virtual engagement meeting with the Head of Public Service scheduled for 16th April 2026.
