The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Mr Davis Chirchir Tours Ongoing Periodic Maintenance Works
The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Mr Davis Chirchir today made an extensive tour of the ongoing periodic maintenance works.
Accompanied by the Nairobi Governor HE Johnson Sakaja, the Cabinet Secretary began his inspection of the James Gichuru junction and the Southern bypass which is a section of the Mombasa-Nairobi-Malaba Highway and the whole stretch is entirely in Nairobi County.
Maintenance works on the 12km road which is being implemented by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), began in April 2023 and is expected to be undertaken within 28 months and be completed by August 2025.
The project is on course to completion despite the heavy traffic experienced during the day, hence forcing the contractor to work at night when there is less traffic congestion.
Present were the Principal Secretary for Roads Eng Joseph Mbugua, Director General for KeNHA, Eng. Kung'u Ndung'u and KURA, Eng Silas Kinoti.
