Kenya Fast-Tracks Northern Corridor: Ruto Launches 3rd site of the Mau Summit–Nakuru–Gilgil Road
Mau Summit, Kericho County — H.E. President William Samoei Ruto launched the third construction site of the 94-kilometre Mau Summit–Nakuru–Gilgil Road at Mau Summit, a key section of the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) corridor, signaling a major push to fast-track one of Kenya’s most transformative infrastructure projects.

Valued at USD 678.5 million and executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with Shandong Hi-Speed Road and Bridge International Engineering Co. Ltd, the highway is set for full completion in 2027.

Speaking at the launch in Mau Summit, President Ruto emphasized that the project will cut travel time, improve road safety, and unlock new economic opportunities along the Northern Corridor. “This is more than a road; it is a gateway for trade, investment, and growth,” he said, noting that the corridor will solidify Kenya’s position as East Africa’s premier trade and logistics hub.

The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, county and national leaders, and representatives of Shandong Hi-Speed, all highlighting the strategic importance of this milestone in Kenya’s infrastructure and economic transformation agenda.
