President Ruto Flags Off Key Road Project to Boost Farmers’ Livelihoods in Nakuru County

Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, on Monday joined H.E. President William Ruto and other leaders as the President commissioned the construction of the 12-kilometre Kinamba–Mengit–Chepkinoiyo–Murinduko Road in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.

This road is a vital infrastructure that will ease the movement of farm produce, reduce transport costs, and enhance farmers’ earnings across one of Nakuru’s most productive agricultural zones.

Speaking during the launch, President Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating rural connectivity as a driver of inclusive economic growth and national food security.

“This project is a direct investment in the lives of our farmers. By improving access to markets for crops such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, pyrethrum, and vegetables, we are putting more money in the hands of our people,” the President said.
Located in Kuresoi North Constituency, the 12-kilometre road will link key agricultural and trading centres including Kinamba, Chepkinoiyo, Silibwonik, Mengit, and Murinduku. The project is being implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, at a cost of Ksh 696 million, fully funded by the Government of Kenya.
The contract, awarded to M/s Nanline Co. Ltd, will run for 24 months, commencing on November 18, 2025, and is scheduled for completion in November 2027. KeRRA’s Directorate of Road Asset Management will supervise the works.
Present was the Cabinet secretary for Environment Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Barasa, Nakuru Governor, Susan Kihika, PS for Environment and Climate Change, Eng. Festus Ng’eno, among other national and local leaders.
