President Ruto Inspects Major Road Project Set to Transform Connectivity in Baringo Region 
Baringo County, Tuesday, October 28, 2025 
Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, and Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Hon. Davis Chirchir, yesterday accompanied H.E. President Dr. William Ruto, PhD, during the inspection of the ongoing construction progress of the 100-kilometre Marigat–Muchongoi–Karandi–Ol Ngarua–Muhotetu–Junction C77 and Muhotetu–Sipili roads in Baringo County. 
The strategic project, which is now 60 per cent complete, is a flagship initiative under the Government’s broader plan to strengthen Kenya’s transport infrastructure and unlock the vast economic potential of the North Rift region. 
Once completed, the road will connect key agricultural and pastoral zones, easing movement of goods and people across Baringo, Laikipia, and Nakuru counties. 
President Ruto emphasized that improving road connectivity is central to his Administration’s mission to open up rural areas, stimulate trade, and attract private investment. 
He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every part of Kenya is accessible through an integrated, reliable road network that supports growth under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). 
The Marigat–Muchongoi–Muhotetu corridor will serve as an economic lifeline for thousands of residents by linking farms, livestock markets, schools, and health centres to major towns. “Better roads mean better livelihoods. 
The project is also expected to promote tourism by improving access to attractions such as Lake Baringo, Lake Bogoria, boosting local businesses, and fostering inclusive development. Its completion will mark a major leap toward achieving the Government’s vision of seamless connectivity, equitable development, and shared prosperity across the country.
