PRESIDENT RUTO LAUNCHES KSH 1.57 BILLION SHAMAKHOKHO–KAIMOSI–MPAKA–MUSENO ROAD PROJECT
Shiveye, Kakamega County, Saturday, 1st November 2025 — H.E. President William Samoei Ruto today officially launched the upgrading of the Shamakhokho– Kaimosi- Mpaka–Museno Road to bitumen standard, a KSh1.57 billion infrastructure project set to transform transport, trade, and connectivity across Vihiga and Kakamega counties.

The President was flanked by Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary, Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, and a host of national and county leaders from the region.

The 33-kilometre project, being implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority and funded by the Government of Kenya, will connect key economic and educational hubs including Kaimosi University, Kaimosi Polytechnic, gold mining zones, and vibrant trading centres along the corridor.

The strategic road will serve as a vital link between trunk roads A1 and B128, easing mobility through Hamisi, Shinyalu, and Ikolomani constituencies.

Once complete, it will enhance road safety, improve access to essential services, and unlock new economic opportunities for residents across Western Kenya.
