Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua Joins Interior CS During Kerio Belt Security Assessment Mission and Launch of Kolowa Sub-County
Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph M. Mbugua, CBS, accompanied the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, during the Kerio Belt Security Assessment Mission and the official launch of Kolowa Sub-County in Baringo County.
The mission reaffirmed the Government's commitment to transforming the Kerio Valley through enhanced security, improved service delivery, and strategic infrastructure development. The leaders emphasized that sustainable peace and security are fundamental to the successful implementation of road projects that will improve accessibility, strengthen regional connectivity, and unlock socio-economic opportunities across the region.
As part of the Government's efforts to enhance security and public service delivery, Hon. Murkomen presided over the distribution of desktop computers to police stations and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) units, motorcycles to chiefs across the nine sub-counties, and sports kits to youth teams in each sub-county. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening security operations, improving public service delivery, and promoting peace through youth empowerment.
The mission highlighted the critical relationship between security and infrastructure development, underscoring that a secure environment is essential for the successful implementation of road projects. Improved road infrastructure will enhance access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services while fostering trade, investment, and sustainable socio-economic development throughout the Kerio Valley.
The State Department for Roads remains committed to working collaboratively with other Government agencies to deliver safe, resilient, and sustainable road infrastructure that supports national security, promotes inclusive development, and improves the livelihoods of communities across Kenya.
