Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua Leads Fundraiser to Support Expansion of Sondany Primary and Junior School

Education flourishes where communities invest in the future of their children. Demonstrating the Government's commitment to supporting quality education and community development, the Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph M. Mbugua, CBS, today presided over a fundraising event for Sondany Primary and Junior School in Tapach Ward, Pokot South Sub-County.

The fundraising initiative aims to support the construction of two boarding dormitories, a transformative project that will position Sondany Primary and Junior School as the first pioneer boarding institution in Tapach Ward. Once completed, the facilities will provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for more than 1,100 learners while helping reduce school dropouts associated with long travel distances.

Addressing the gathering, Eng. Mbugua underscored the close relationship between education and infrastructure development, emphasizing that quality road networks are essential for expanding access to education, healthcare, markets, and security services. He reiterated the Government's commitment to improving road infrastructure across West Pokot County to ensure communities have reliable access to schools and other critical public services.

The Principal Secretary called upon leaders, parents, development partners, and well-wishers to rally behind the project, noting that investing in education is an investment in the future prosperity of the community. He observed that modern learning facilities, complemented by improved road connectivity, create opportunities for better educational outcomes, economic growth, and sustainable development.
