Principal Secretary for Roads Inspects Key Road Projects in Vihiga County

Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph M. Mbugua, CBS, inspected the ongoing Mago–Mululu (E240) and Lusui–Vokoli (E293) Road Projects in Vihiga County to assess construction progress and ensure the works are being executed to the highest quality standards.

The road projects form part of the Government's continued investment in modern road infrastructure aimed at enhancing connectivity, improving mobility, and supporting socio-economic development across the region.

Upon completion, the upgraded roads will significantly reduce travel time and transportation costs, improve road safety, and provide reliable all-weather access for residents. The improved infrastructure will facilitate easier movement of agricultural produce to markets, enhance trade and business activities, and improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential public services.

Beyond improving connectivity, the projects are expected to stimulate local economic growth by creating employment opportunities, attracting investment, promoting trade, and unlocking the economic potential of Vihiga and the neighboring Kakamega County. The improved transport network will contribute to sustainable development and enhanced livelihoods for communities across the region.

During the inspection, the Principal Secretary was accompanied by Eng. Edwin Cheserek, KeRRA Regional Director – Vihiga. The visit reaffirmed the Government's commitment to delivering quality road infrastructure projects on time, ensuring they provide lasting socio-economic benefits and improve the quality of life for all Kenyans.
