PS Mbugua Highlights Engineering’s Role in Advancing Kenya’s Blue Economy at EPC 2026 Launch
The Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, today represented the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Hon. Davis Chirchir, at the media launch of the Engineering Partnerships Convention 2026 (EPC 2026), where he underscored the transformative role of engineering in shaping Kenya’s economic future.
Delivering the Cabinet Secretary’s remarks, Eng. Mbugua emphasized that engineering remains central to the country’s development agenda, particularly in unlocking the vast potential of the Blue Economy. He noted that strategic investments in infrastructure, innovation, and technical skills are critical to supporting sustainable maritime transport, modern port systems, and resilient coastal infrastructure.
The Principal Secretary said collaboration between government, industry, academia, and development partners will be essential in harnessing engineering solutions that drive inclusive growth and strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional logistics and maritime hub.
The Engineering Partnerships Convention 2026, scheduled for April 2026, will be held under the theme “Blueprint for Prosperity: Engineering a Sustainable Blue Economy.” The forum is expected to convene key stakeholders from across sectors to deliberate on emerging opportunities and practical solutions in maritime transport, port modernization, coastal resilience, and engineering education.
